JACK BENNY PROGRAM (12-24-43) The cast visits Jack’s house on Christmas Eve. Mary and Jack trim the tree and Jack gets a shock when she plugs in the lights.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL — Lionel Barrymore stars as Ebenezer Scrooge in this commercially recorded version of Charles Dickens’ classic story.

AMOS ‘n’ ANDY (12-24-50) Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll present their traditional Christmas program. Andy wants to give a doll to Amos’ daughter so he gets a job as a department store Santa Claus to earn one for her. Later, Amos tells his daughter the meaning of The Lord’s Prayer.

DUFFY’S TAVERN (12-22-48) Ed Gardner stars as Archie, who is in a bad mood on Christmas Eve because Duffy didn’t come through with a Christmas gift. A visitor to the tavern drops in and he and Archie take a walk around town. A sentimental show in the best tradition of radio. Actor Jeff Chandler portrays the visitor.

COMMAND PERFORMANCE (12-25-44) Excerpt from an all-star Armed Forces Radio Service broadcast featuring Bob Hope, Dinah Shore, Judy Garland, Ginny Simms, Virginia O’Brien, Dorothy Lamour and Frances Langford plus Spencer Tracy narrating the classic Christmas story, “The Small One.”
