FORD THEATRE (5-9-48) “The Front Page” a full-hour production of the classic story set in Chicago at the time of the city’s last hanging. John Larkin, Everett Sloane and Ed Begley star in this tough, hard-boiled comedy about a fast-talking reporter and a scheming editor.
G.I. JOURNAL (1940s) Bing Crosby is this week’s “editor” as comedian Henry Morgan applies for the job of Literary Writer. His first assignment: interview singer Lena Horne. Others in cast: Ransom Sherman, Mal Blanc, John Scott Trotter and the orchestra.
HALLMARK PLAYHOUSE (1940s) “McLoud’s Folly” starring Robert Young. In the depression days of the 1930s, a young man is looking for a job in a small American town. He is thrown in jail, but manages to convince the owner of the local newspaper to print the facts about poor conditions in the town jail.
