All I can say is "Amen" to the above comment in memory of Robert White of whom I had no knowledge until I listened to the above interview as I do not listen to much classical music. I was very impressed by his voice, his background and his pleasant personality. When I decided to order recordings by him, I realized he had just died and that his career had been in England as tenors dropped out of popular favor long ago here. I am glad he was able to do so well and did have a teaching position here. At just six years younger than Robert White, I should have known him as I like tenors, but even the once very popular Dennis Day is hardly remembered anymore given the few recordings still available.

In reply to <a href="https://speakingofradio.com/interviews/andres-jay-personality/#comment-3313">mickie andres</a>.

Hi Mickie. I am 84 years old and always loved the idea that Jay was my cousin and god father. I live in the Milwaukee area I did not interact with him much but I loved that I could get to listen to him on the radio. My mother Josephine was the sister of his father Hilbert. Hilbert was a wonderful pianist who could not read music but could play anything that he heard. We had great parties during which he would entertain us. He was always proud to be Jay Andre’s father. Continue to appreciate the legacy of your grandfather. He was very special on many levels.

Really enjoyed this interview. The Jack Benny radio show was by far the Best. To hear Larry Stevens, an actual member of the cast, tell what it was like to be part of such a talented outfit was a delight. We’re lucky to be able to hear these wonderful shows after so many years.

I’m reading Gavin MacLeod’s autobiography and he’s talking about, as a young actor, his need for a hairpiece to cover his bald head. He went to a shop in Manhattan and bought a used hairpiece for $125. On his way out the salesman told Gavin the hairpiece he just bought used to belong to Andre Baruch!

This is my grandfather. He was such a funny and sweet man. I remember as kids going to his house on Sundays and listening to all his stories. My father is named after him but goes by his middle name. We miss him dearly. This is so cool that we can listen to him still. Thank you for posting this.
