Prolific author of many show business biographies, he was in Chicago to promote his latest book “Winchell” about the dynamic columnist and radio commentator Walter Winchell (1897-1972). Mr. Thomas was born January 26, 1922 and was 49 years old at the time of our conversation at Chicago’s Executive House Hotel. He died March 14, 2014 at age 92.
