Jack Brickhouse

Recorded September 09th, 1977 - 23 min

Best known for his play-by-play sports announcing, he considers himself an “announcer”, rather than a “sports announcer.”  He was born January 24, 1916 and was 61 at the time of this conversation about his broadcast career that began in Peoria, Illinois and concluded in Chicago. We met at his WGN office after he returned from a Cubs game at Wrigley Field.  He died August 6, 1998 at age 82.

Jack Brickhouse was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1996.
