Betty Bryant

Recorded July 01st, 1995 - 120 min

Her family-owned show boat plied the inland waterways of the Ohio River from before the first world war until 1942. Years later she wrote a book about her life on that show boat and she joined us on the air to talk about it.   Our lengthy conversation includes an excerpt from a 1954 Americana program with announcer Bill Griskey reading passages from the book written by Betty’s father, Captain Billy Bryant. There’s also a complete 1949 broadcast of Ralph Edwards’ This is Your Life program, which profiled her father’s career and featured Betty as an on-air guest. Betty Bryant was born in 1922 and she was 73 at the time of our conversation.  She died on January 15, 1999 at age 76.
