The screen’s original Flash Gordon and the star of Buck Rogers and Tarzan films was in Chicago for a pair of special appearances in the North West Federal Savings Community Center when he joined us on our Those Were The Days program to talk about his long career.  A former two-time Olympic swimming champion, he won the 1932 gold medal for 400-meter freestyle event, which launched his career on the silver screen and later television. He starred in a variety of popular feature films and movie serials released between 1933 and the 1950s. Clarence Linden “Buster” Crabbe II was born February 7, 1908 and was 72 years old at the time of our hilarious conversation.  He died April 23, 1983 at age 75.
