Technician Paul Heyn retired from radio station WBBM in Chicago on April 18, 1987, “44 years, 5 months and 14 days” after he was hired by the station on November 8, 1942. He was Chief Engineer at WBBM from 1963 to 1969. We spoke with him at length in his home in preparation for our book “WBBM Radio, Yesterday & Today.” Beginning with his first assignment as an engineer on remote broadcasts, he recalls his years at the station and the changes that occurred in radio while he was there. He died February 11, 2004 at age 85.
