Leon Lichtenfeld

Musician who appeared with orchestras on Chicago radio during the early days of broadcasting.  He recalls his days with WGN, performing on various studio and remote programs. He was born in 1896 and was 83 when we met for this chat in our studio. He had an impeccable memory of events and details from his radio career  and this is one of our favorite conversations about the Radio Days.  Leon Lichtenfeld passed away July 9th, 1989 at the age of 92.

  1. This one is so special, because Mr Lichtenfeld remembers so much from the earliest days of Chicago radio. This first person history, with so many personal asides, is so rich, and so much fun. This is the REAL stuff!
