He captured the imagination of listeners everywhere as the writer and host of Lights Out, one of the most memorable series in the history of radio. He was born December 7, 1909 and was 66 at the time we met in his home in Studio City, California, where he told how his career began in Chicago. He died March 17, 1987 at age 77.

Being a somewhat very small author myself, it was delightful to hear Arch on this interview. I first heard him on a radio play called Lion Hunt. Introduced by Vincent Price, It was and still is a very enjoyable short story. a shortened version of course from the Lions Of Tsavo. But never the less, a great one.

Mr. Oboler was one of the all time greats, and ‘Lights Out’
is one of my favorite OTR radio programs, it is such a joy to hear these interviews. These interviews satisfy both my love of history, love of people, and love of old time radio. I was not old enough to hear these programs when they first aired, but have tried to listen to as many as possible in the last 12 years

Lights Out was so great and still is for collectors of old radio shows…Arch Oboler was unique…a unique voice that catches your attention and you’re hooked and can’t stop listening…thanks for the opportunity to listen to these wonderful interviews with the greats of old time radio..the greats no longer with us …thank you Chuck for your interviews and giving us the opportunity to listen and enjoy!
