Comedienne/singer who entertained for many years in films such as Waikiki Wedding (1937); Hellzapoppin (1942); Four Jills in a Jeep (1944); Monsieur Verdoux (1947). She was a welcome guest on many television programs and had her own series, The Martha Raye Show (1954-1956). She was born August 27, 1916 and was 56 when we interviewed her. Martha Raye was often recognized for her trips to entertain servicemen during WW II, Korea and Vietnam. She died October 19, 1994 at age 78.
