Karl Swensen & Joan Tompkins

He was Lord Henry Brinthrope on Our Gal Sunday and he played the title role in Lorenzo Jones.  She starred as Lora Lawton and played the title role in This is Nora Drake.  At the time of our conversation, they had been married for 23 years; he was 67, born July 23, 1908 and she was 60, born July 9, 1915. They reminisced about their radio careers and even performed a “mock” audition for us. He died October 8, 1978 at age 70.  She died January 29, 2005 at age 89. Note: We ran out of recording tape just as our visit was about to  end, but  we did thank them “off the air” for their good work on the air.
