*Actually, we interviewed author Bob Thomas about Walter Winchell, who died February 21, 1972 at age 74. Thomas, author of “Winchell,” was in Chicago on a book tour for his publisher, Doubleday and Company when we met him to talk about the popular, yet controversial newspaperman and radio commentator. Thomas was born January 26, 1922 and was age 49 when we spoke.
