In addition to marking 24 years on the air with Those Were The Days, host Chuck Schaden presents highlights of the “Jack Benny Birthday Celebration” recorded at the Museum of Broadcast Communications in the Chicago Cultural Center.
This event was heldon February 13, 1994 to mark the occasion of the 61st anniversary of Jack Benny’s 39th birthday.
Ken Alexander wrote an original radio script, based upon characters and situations created during the twenty-three year run of one of the most successful programs in the history of radio.
The Those Were The Days Radio Players brought Ken’s script to life. John Sebert, winner of our Jack Benny Sound-Alike contest, played Jack.
Special guests for the event were Jack’s daughter Joan Benny and his grandson Bobby Blumofe who shared family memories and they also appeared in the cast of the re-enactment. Joan played her mother, Mary Livingstone. A special scene was written into the script for Bobby.
