SUSPENSE (12-22-57) “Dog Star” starring Evelyn Rudie in an unusual Christmas drama, reflecting radio’s comment on the “space age.”  A young girl wants a dog for Christmas, but her father says “no.”  Then a Russian satellite, carrying a dog, crash-lands in the community near her home.

COMMAND PERFORMANCE (12-25-44) Christmas greetings to our men and women in the service around the world.  Emcee for this two-hour program is Bob Hope, “telling all you Japs and Nazis from Berlin to Sumatra your chances are as slim as half a Frank Sinatra!” It’s an all-star variety program featuring Xavier Cugat and the Orchestra; Spike Jones and his City Slickers; Ginny Simms; Jimmy Durante; Dinah Shore; Jack Benny; Fred Allen; Kay Kyser and his Orchestra; Frances Langford; Dorothy Lamour; Danny Kaye; W. C. Fields; and Judy Garland.  Plus Spencer Tracy presenting a dramatization of Charles Tazewell’s Christmas story “The Small One” with Lee J. Cobb, Skippy Homier, Howard Duff, Elliott Lewis.  The Ken Darby Chorus and all the vocal talent on the show present a medley of familiar Christmas Carols.
