NOTE: Comedian Red Skelton died September 17, 1997 at age 84. We offer a tribute during this broadcast which includes Red’s 1994 induction into the Radio Hall of Fame, plus his classic “Pledge to the Flag” monolog.

RED SKELTON SHOW (1-15-46) The Skelton Scrapbook of Satire offers a few chapters on Department Stores, with Red as J. Newton Numbskull, Clem Kadiddlehopper and, Junior, the Mean Little Kid.

EASY ACES #66 (1940s) After the shooting, Jane spills the beans to the opposition paper, but no one wants the publicity.

LUX RADIO THEATRE (5-22-50) “Jolson Sings Again” starring Al Jolson in the sequel to “The Jolson Story,” the continuation of the biography of the great singer. Cast includes Barbara Hale, William Demarest and Ludwig Donath.

EASY ACES #67 (1940s) A result of Jane’s story-telling is that Neil is fired from his newspaper job.

SUSPENSE (2-27-47) “Three Faces for Midnight” starring William Bendix with Sandra Gould and Jack Webb. A man and woman take a job which involves a bribe and the governor of the state.

EASY ACES #68 (1940s) Jane tells her story to detectives investigating the shooting at the Ace home.

EASY ACES #69 (1940s) Neil’s plan apparently works and the movie director prepares to leave. This concludes this sequence of sixteen consecutive and related episodes… until next we meet the Easy Aces.
