As we celebrate our 27th broadcast anniversary today, we observe the occasion by playing one of our complete three-hour “Hall Closet” morning drive-time programs from 1973 on WLTD, Evanston.

EDDIE CANTOR WITH A HALF HOUR OF SHOW BUSINESS (1950s) The show biz veteran plays vintage records and tells stories about Sophie Tucker, Ted Lewis, Fanny Brice, Al Jolson, Will Rogers and Clayton, Jackson and Durante.
PEPPER YOUNG’S FAMILY(1950s) Isolated episode of the long-running daytime drama.
BIG SISTER (1950s) Isolated episode of the long-running daytime serial.

Interesting program. I am surprised that I missed it in 1997. As I was listening to the 1973 broadcast, I had fun putting it into perspective. Back then the Golden Age of Radio had only been gone for about 20 or so years. Many people who remember that era were not yet retired and commuting to the Loop every day. The country was changing. Viet-Nam was ending and Watergate was starting. With all that going on I am sure your program was a welcome diversion from all of that. Chuck, you sound really upbeat. I could tell that you really loved what you were doing. Love your website and looking forward to hearing more of TWTD.
